My wife name is Mrs Sariha Binti Hj Maharan who also the owner of Sukau Village View Stay (Homestay & Backpackers) and My name Mr. Datu Md Ahbam but usually call Bam – I have been involved with conservation since 1999 – 2024 to value the environment through enforcement aspects, wildlife research and driving environmental education programs throughout Sabah etc. Now after retiring from conservation work, I continue the practice of conservation that has become ingrained in me through eco tourism which is closely related to the care of natural resources.

Beside that, since 2000, we also sukau homestay members and i have been an active member as the coordinator of the Balai Kito Homestay Association, with a certified license under the Ministry of Culture of Tourism Malaysia in 2009, I ‘leaped and ventured’ onto adding Village View Stay that accords with our Homestay and backpackers. Hence, we call it – Sukau Village Viewstay in 2015.

Albeit we run this homestay and backpackers as a personal business, this provides community benefit thoroughly in services (food preparation, room cleanliness, trekking guide, boatman, etc). We do not only offer you experience of cultural heritage and wildlife, but we exclusively ingrain your participation in conservation knowledge while visiting. With that, we provide hands on activities such as jungle trekking while seeking seedlings, or making fish trap, artificial hornbill nest, etc

I Hope my experience as Conservationist will be able to shared with tourist who come to visiting our Sukau Village View Stay, especially the group of students who are interested in evaluating the importance of nature as a world treasure heritage.
